1962

Collection:

Prompt: How would you describe your Georgetown?

I came here in 1962 to work at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. What a difference, there was nothing out the window of the nurse’s home except a graveyard.

The whistling pig was our excitement for the night. The Thomas Cafe, Strand Theatre, Rose’s on Front and Iseman Drugstore. Foqels Belks, and Delta Drug. They told me that the paper mill smelled like bacon and eggs. So much has changed and grown.
