Human Impact

The impact humans have on yellow bellied slider is habitat destruction, pollution, pet trade, and more. Many of these turtles end up in local waterways by owners when they become too hard to care for.

Creative Exploration

POV: Waking up / A day in my life
I wake up in the morning resting on a log. I look around to see that Charley and Zoe are gone! I’m shocked because their loud voices usually wake me, but they are nowhere to be found. Anyway, I take my weekly shower in the pond. I don’t feel worried; they probably just got lost! I get out of the pond and head to the street. I see Charley in the middle of the road, yelling for dear life. Somehow, she managed to get into the middle of the road, but no one was stopping those huge moving machines to help her!
I tell Charley to run! She slowly starts marching toward me. After four hours, she safely makes it to the other side. Four hours after that, we find Zoe hiding in a ditch after being chased by a caterpillar.
