Anisoptera

Biological Overview
Habitat
Dragonflies often live or stay in areas with water like lakes or ponds.
Diet
Dragonflies are carnivores; they mostly eat other animals but mostly other insects.
Role in Ecosystem
There ecosystem role is what I’m going to call “natural pest control”.
Behavior
Dragonflies are skilled predators when hunting; able to fly quickly.
Human Impact
Agriculture from humans lead to habitat loss for dragonflies. This is due to it destroying bodies of water. Chemicals can contaminate the water as well, killing dragonflies. Decreased population for dragonflies can affect whole ecosystems, like a chain. These ecosystem changes could cause other organisms to go extinct.
Creative Exploration
This my day in a life as a dragonfly: so I just found out that my lifespan is only 6-8 weeks long, so it’s really short and we as dragonflies don’t really do anything special other than hunting other small insects or plants. We go around looking for places to rest during the night. We aren’t usually seen in groups, as we are mostly independent animals. Some of my comrades I have seen have many different, vibrant colors on them!
