Biological Overview

Habitat
They are found in a muddy terrain on gently sloped landscapes, and also in leaf-dropping forest habitat.

Diet
They make their own food.

Role in Ecosystem
Their role is that they are a producer.

Behavior
It is a calm plant that lives in water and roots grow down.

Human Impact

Humans cause lots of problems for this plant, such as habitat destruction from industrial development, even though this plant does produce potatoes for animals and humans. This plant got its common name from the shape of its leaves on its stem because they look like an arrow. If this plant dies it could cut off a major food source for herbivorous animals.

Creative Exploration

The gusting wind,
And I see the bright amber bulb in the sky,
It gets higher and higher into the sky,
Then I’m feeling good,
Because the bright amber bulb feeds me food,
The last thing I see is a big yellow truck,
It releases fumes, and I try to duck,
The fumes make me cough as I’m pulled from my trough,
The light finally fades away,
And before I’m gone, I feel endangered today.
