Human Impact
Humans affect blue crabs in a lot of ways. One big problem is that people catch too many crabs. If too few crabs are left, they won’t reproduce enough, so the total number of blue crabs goes down. Another reason blue crab populations are declining is due to habitat destruction along shorelines when people build houses and fishing areas because blue crabs live in underwater grass beds and marshes. Lastly, humans impact blue crabs with pollution like chemicals, trash and more. This makes it unhealthy for the blue crabs to live.
