Biological Overview
Habitat
lives in thick lowland forests and swampy areas.
Diet
Carnivore, eats rodents, birds, frogs, fish, and crawfish.
Role in Ecosystem
Serves as an indicator species. Extremely common in north and south carolina.
Behavior
Mostly nocturnal. They can see extremely well. They dive down feet first to kill thus limiting the prey it can kill due to their small feet.
Human Impact
Humans are endangering Barred owl in many ways like the increase in the amount of trees that are being cut down. Barred owls having to migrate to other locations because they don’t have anywhere to stay because humans are cutting down the trees where they stay at. Not only do they not have anywhere to stay they are also affected by the climate change.
Creative Exploration
As I was flying by a frog let in the night the hopping of the frog got my attention. I flew down low to get the frog and flexed my claws. I reached down and swiped the frog into my grasps, quickly breaking its neck and killing it.. Then I flew to an open area were there was no one then I throw up the bones and the frogs teeth.
