July 4^th traditions are fireworks + cookouts. The activities have never seemed to relate to the history of the occasion in my mind. It seems more like an excuse to be off work than an occasion of anything important even though I understand that the fireworks probably relate to “the rockets’ red glare.” It has never seemed like a meaningful holiday to me. Christmas + Easter seem much more meaningful in the way that they are celebrated.
