If you’ve never been to Wilmington, you should go, because there’s great little antique and boutique shops in Wilmington. There’s so many different events that these shops will put on.

At this comic shop that I’ve been to, they had an advertisement for an Occult and Oddities Fest. I was intrigued, so I brought a friend who is already in Wilmington. When we got in there, it’s about what I expected it to be. It was very—for lack of a better word—occult. There were crystals; you could buy these beautiful, ornate frames with pinned insects in them; there were jars of different kinds of animal bones—I walked past some guy’s booth where he had this illuminated raccoon skull. There was anything you can think of.

One of the sellers brought her pet snake. It was just around her neck, so I thought it was fake, but then it moved! I was not expecting to be interacting with a snake that day. Every single person that we talked to said, “I go to all of these events. Some of my stuff that I sell, I get from others, or I make these myself”. I was a little too scared to ask where some of the animal bones were from, but from what I’ve heard, a lot of the times, they happen upon stuff like that.
