In one community there was a crosswalk linking the schools on one side of the road and stores and medical offices were on the other side of the main road, but did have a great deal of vehicle traffic. It was a deceptive two-lane crossing. After a child was hit in the crosswalk and experienced a harmful head injury as a result. The town installed the best technology available at the time to create a safe crossing. There was another report on the safety concern that brought the leaders together to discuss the safe walkability and how to create a safe environment for children.
