Water feels like mud under my plastic shoes with holes where the water seeps in cold. My sump pump keeps spitting water from the crawl space under my house, right where my garden is. My wet feet slog through squishing the black dirt where grass is too wet to grow. My wet feet want to run to another place, a higher ground with rocks, roots, and a carpet of duff. Water by my house, in my yard built in a flood plain, feels dangerous. Feels like my feet belong to a fool for building here.
