One thing we do in my family is when a loved one dies, and there’s a baby or infant that knew the deceased, we pass the baby over the grave. My mother used to always tell a story about when her father died, my Grandfather Sonny, when he died, they didn’t pass my cousin Crystal over the grave. They took her home after the funeral and Crystal cried all night long. They had to go back to the gravesite in the middle of the night and pass Crystal over the grave. So that’s one of the things we do. That’s also one of the things that comes from our African ancestors that we still do today.
