I’ll tell you about a special lunch that we recently had and which will become one of our standard offerings. We had offered to our two sons and their families another three-night stay at the beach, because each of their families spend a week at a beach, 1 at Hilton Head, the other at a NC Beach like Emerald Islas, so we didn’t want to introduce, being the mother-in-law of daughters-in-law.
There is a protocol I’ve learned and function satisfyingly within. I could not get traction about a three-night week at the beach, because the family calendars for school could not sync, so a convergence of ideas presented themselves. We live in a patron home, no longer large enough for the family, plus we don’t have equipment for the children, but I hike in Sesqui frequently.
One of our friends and her husband live in a small home and entertain at the Palmetto or Capitol City, so we hosted an all-inclusive retreat at a lakeside resort, aka Sesqui. We paid for their entrance fees, paddle boats, picnic shelter, and box lunches. Everyone came for four hours. The children ran wild, we were able to visit one-on-one with each adult child. It was a huge success and a fraction of the cost, plus easy peasy for everybody.
