Background
My mother and father taught me to manage the farm with nine children. We grew a garden behind our house. We raised cotton and corn. We had a mule, cow and hogs. Planted cotton, soybeans and we sold the cotton and corn. My mother made some clothes from cloth. Mother taught me how to cook. Father taught how to work the farm and work together. Lamps were burned by oil. Hogs that we raised were used for meat and chicken for eggs.
