“When I think of a plant that grows wild in Georgetown, I think of blackberry brambles. Walking down a dirt road with my nephews and niece, picking along the way and eating half of them before we reach the country store for a hotdog. I think of coming home and washing what we had left and eating them in cups of milk because daddy insisted it was the best way to eat them. With both my daddy and niece now gone from this world, I’m always reminded of being six years old, sitting barefoot on the porch swing eating those blackberries next to her.
