The second installment of Diann Williams’s Literacy series, Cultural Literacy, turns attention to the shared family experiences that shape our identities. From reunions and funerals to graduations and birthdays, these gatherings hold deep cultural meaning, carrying traditions, emotions, and memories that pass from one generation to the next.
In this workshop, Williams will guide participants through writing prompts that invite reflection on these milestone events and the ways they inform our understanding of family and culture. The session creates space for participants to consider how stories of joy, grief, celebration, and transition connect us to one another and to our larger communities. As with all Communal Pen workshops, writers of all experience levels are welcome.
