I appreciate the views of our youth. The youth of our community are very socially driven. Therefore, a lot of our concerns are driven by our social wants, needs, and climate. Older generations have an understanding of it but are driven by a bigger picture economic will. i.e. plants, animals, environment. I believe if we can find a way to connect these priorities, we will find a common ground to move us forward. It’s not from a lack of concern from either party. It is just the difference in the weight of priority that can make progress seem like a tug of war. Raising awareness is a good way to try to build the bridge. I believe our answer could be in social media or at least the beginning of our answer. We have to reach out and show our youth what used to be. We have to show them our intent, drive, and seriousness. I believe we can impose out motivation by showing the social togetherness the environmental and historical conservation can bring. As a youth, “conserve” is a scary word because we lack the understanding of its impact at times. Conserve doesn’t mean stop moving forward. It means to take care of what you have and to bring it along with you.
I appreciate the views of our youth.
