I grew up in a “spare the rod, spoil the child” type of family. That was for grandparents, aunts, uncles, and anyone at home. But one thing that I had to give credit to my older brother, was implementing having a conversation.
He was getting in trouble for something one day, and he said, “Mama, can we talk about it?” And so that kind of transformed into having conversations. And from having conversations turning to, “Okay, well, certain things that you like, we’re going to start taking away.
So, no phone, no TV, or fun activities that were planned in advance or either taken away or put on hold. So, that’s a discipline style that I would like to carry on to one day when I have children.
