“Don’t do that!” That’s a big one.
Some of these are your senses going off whenever you’re doing something and it’s like your parents are there with you, even though they’re not.
So, it’s like, “Don’t do that!”
Or one that we don’t really experience a lot because we’re older now, is “that stove is hot, don’t touch that.”
“Why?” Just the word, “why?” Our parents asked us that all the time. “Why? Why’d you do that?” “Why is this?” or “Why is this the way this is?”
My stepmother used to tell me to “think smarter, not harder” all the time. That was a big one. She told me so much that I got angry, which is probably a sign.
The last one was when I got a little older, my parents started telling me, “Don’t do things half-assed.”
I think a lot of people can relate to these phrases.
