Holiday Hangout Workshop 2023

Communal Pen workshops are at the heart of what we do. Each workshop has a facilitator team and thoughtful prompts with the goal of creating community connection. Read more of our details below of this workshop.

Write to celebrate and explore our connections to place, community, and traditions. This special edition of the Communal Pen Holiday Hangout will welcome old friends and new around the table. Take a break and mark your thoughts and traditions for yourself and future generations.

We will be holding our virtual Holiday Hangout on Saturday, December 16, from 2 – 4 p.m. virtually. The event is free, but registration is required.

This year, we are celebrating a new partnership with The Athenaeum Press at Coastal Carolina University, who will be archiving and making the work of Communal Pen pasts and futures visible. They will also be holding an in-person pilot writing workshop, “Holiday Tea and Food Writing Workshop,” at the Myrtle Beach Art Museum on Wednesday, December 13, from 2 – 3:30 p.m, which is held in conjunction with their retrospective exhibition, Local Stories Matter: Rediscovering Our Region with The Athenaeum Press.
