She said, “Take out all the vowels.” If so, what I wrote makes no sense at all happen. And this is censorship. Who do you think you are? I am an American citizen. An armchair. Cherish my freedom of speech. You are a representative of the state government. You work for the South Carolina Arts Commission, which taxpayers pay for. You have absolutely no right to try to deprive me of my freedom of speech.
If you could do that. What else could you do? What else could the government do to remove other rights? I wish I knew. I wish I had remembered all of the Bill of Rights. But I know we have freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of the press. Even if I don’t think about what you and the South Carolina Arts Commission are trying to do.
But you sent some writing, then I’m reminded of what the Supreme Court just did when they abolished our constitutional right to abortion or talking about abolishing the contraceptives. And even we can marry.
I’ve been frightened for a long time now, several years, by some recent events that I do. And just what censorship does. I was shocked beyond belief when Georgia legislature voted to make it illegal for people to provide water to other people standing in line to vote. They didn’t want those people to vote. They wanted them to go home. And they thought that if they got thirsty enough, they wouldn’t vote. January six frightened me and other people, acting as if they were above the law has frightened me. The president and his administration have not only acted as if they were above the law, we have heard racist dog whistles from them for five years now.
What can I do? I can vote and I can do whatever I can to educate my friends and family about what’s going on.
