Biological Information

Habitat
Found in North America, Canada, and Mexico around trees.

Diet
They eat tadpoles, frogs, lizards and crayfish.

Role in Ecosystem
Common feathered predator that are solitary.

Behavior
They are nocturnal predators that sit in trees at night to hunt .

Human Impact

The eastern screech owl in so many forests. But humans cut them down and ruin the owl’s ecosystems and habitats. When they walk to forest to forest sometimes and get hit by cars and some lost starving humans kill them and eat them. But the humans need more buildings which is called urbanization and cars can cause global warming.

At dark and dusk every night
I eat and fight
With my piercing eyes
Hunting day and night
I spy with my little eyes a helpless meal
I am ready to stalk and strike
I hide in the shadows when humans hike
Melding with bark until I vanish from sight
Hiding from humans every night.
