Biological Overview

Habitat
They dig deep burrows 5 to 8 inches in the ground

Diet
insects including crickets, grasshoppers, beetles, ants .

Role in Ecosystem
They balance the insect population.

Behavior
Rarely aggressive, they wait for prey before giving chase

Human Impact

Carolina wolf spiders are often killed by humans because of their “scary looks”, decreasing the population. But they are also benefited because humans have houses, garages, and basements that are crawling with small insects. Almost like a buffet for the carolina wolf spider. Humans can also destroy the spiders homes by accidentally mowing grass or moving rocks.

Creative Exploration

With it’s sharp fangs, it moves through the forest like a boomerang. As they look for their prey, their strength begins to betray. As sadness fills their brain, their hungriness remains.
