Diet and Ecosystem Role: The banded water snake eats the following fish, frogs, tadpoles, salamanders, and crayfish.  

Role in Ecosystem  

The snake kills small organisms like frogs and fish but gets hunted by hawks.  

Behavior  

The banded water snake hunts at day and at night normally living on a branch over rivers. 

Human Impact

Human impacts on this organism: we humans affect them in many ways such as losing homes because of deforestation and pollution, but they get mistaken for poisonous snakes and get injured or killed due to humans being scared. The organism is scared of humans but will be extremely defensive if approached and will attack humans. The snake releases a smell when a human is approaching them. They can also hide on a branch if needed. 

Creative Exploration

I am a banded water snake. My name is Viper, and smaller reptiles and fish fear me. They think that I, and other snakes like me, are the all-powerful snakes. The truth is, we are almost powerless. I have almost no ability to actually kill without an advantage. I normally have to sneak around and drag them around rocks at seriously fast speed, as my teeth are not the biggest. I also steal almost dead fish and small animals, which makes me quite hated by the creatures that can see past my facade.  

Earlier this morning, I was attacked by a hawk. I was terrified for my life. I had to slide out of my tree into the wild river. I was zooming down the river, hitting every rock until I gained control. I was seriously injured, but had survived. Now, I am currently hiding under a fallen bird’s nest. I think it’s time to rest for the day. I have to get my 16 hours of sleep to be functional, haha…
