Biological Overview

Habitat  

Wet soil, Carolinas mostly, sandhills and coastal plains, wet pine savannas.  

Diet  

They get their energy from photosynthesis and insects give them nutrients too  

Role in Ecosystem  

They are a carnivorous plant and a producer mixed in one.  

Behavior  

Its mouth snaps shut to catch prey. It waits patiently for prey. Its mouth shuts faster than you can blink. It uses acid to break down its prey. 

Human Impact

Humans can impact Venus Fly Trap by when they burn trash and it spreads to their habitat and can lead to habitat loss. Also when we cut down trees it can lead to the development the plants to be weak and not enough to survive on its own so they will start to decompose. Also people started to poach the Venus Fly Trap and they also traded then and took them out the wild, But in 2014 it became a felony to do so. We can protect them by stopping fires before they become to high and not letting people go near their habitat. 

Creative Exploration

I wake up in the morning and wait for my prey to fall into my grasp. I am going to love to talk about this, I wait very patiently, when I feel a creepy crawler on my hairs, my mouth snaps shut faster than you can blink! Then my acid breaks the body down and then spits it out. Now after this, I must help produce energy from photosynthesis as a carnivorous consumer. This is very easy but very boring, next I get to talk to my other friends in the pine savannas. We hang out for the whole day. Then finally, I go to bed.
