Costumes and masquerades invite us to play with identity to imagine new versions of ourselves, to perform roles both familiar and strange, and to consider what lies beneath the masks we wear. In this addition to the Write Home workshop series, Melanie McGehee will use guided prompts to explore the themes of identity, imagination, performance, and authenticity.
Whether you’re reflecting on childhood costumes, community festivals, or the everyday disguises of adult life, this session offers space to write about how costumes and masks both conceal and reveal who we are. Through storytelling and reflection, participants will have the chance to examine how imagination and performance shape our personal and cultural identities.
